Why it ranks here. The most bought and most reviewed electric washer there is, with a foam cannon and five nozzles in the box and the most flow in its class. An owner of the original still has and uses it and calls it a great little pressure washer, and a viewer set on a petrol machine changed his mind. The SPX3001 swaps the foam cannon for a hose reel.

Its pump seals fail early for many owners, with the same ring disintegrating on several machines, and Sun Joe told one owner it cannot supply parts and offered no repair. A six-year-old unit simply stopped flowing, and one owner asks whether these are just throwaway washers. In a cold climate run pump antifreeze through it before storing.

• The only thing I would add is that this cannot just be "put away for a year or or two". You need to make sure that if you live in a colder climate, that you run some RV/Pool antifreeze through the pump and unit.

The Home Depot standard that other reviewers measure against, sold and serviced through the store, with owners one to three years in who call it dependable on cars, patios and decks. One who has tried many electric washers says Ryobi never disappoints, and another replaced a fifteen-year-old Husky with it.

At 1.2 gallons a minute it is too little for a surface cleaner or a big driveway, and a pump specialist's one-word answer on surface cleaners is don't, because its aluminium axial pump will not last. One owner of a smaller Ryobi melted its carbon brushes cleaning a deck, and another could not connect a new unit to his hose even with a connector kit.

• I think the SunJoe SPX 3200 is much cheaper and it’s rated at 2030 PSI @ 1.75GPM(I think). It was also less than $150 and it’s worked out really well for me so far. It also fits in the trunk of my 2017 Toyota Camry so its extremely portable unlike this Ryobi one.

Why it ranks here. The Costco and Lowe's special, often with a surface cleaner in the box and a better hose than its rivals. One buyer found it worked amazingly well beyond his expectations, another has done the house exterior, deck, fencing and car with it, and it runs much quieter than a petrol machine. Sold as 1900 or 2000 PSI depending on the shop.

A long line of Reddit owners had theirs stop building pressure or refuse to switch on after a handful of uses: one died at fourteen months, one after about four uses, one worked one summer and gave no water the next. A narrow tip held close marked one owner's composite deck, and the hose and cord are a pain to manage.

One owner praises its good pressure, flow rate and reliability as what really counts, another is still using his old K5 after four or five years, and the verdict is that Kärcher builds things to last. Newer units have the Smart Control handle; older Full Control ones do not.

The hose is the universal complaint: it kinks like nothing at all, the longer one is just a long rubbish hose instead of a short one, and the fix is an aftermarket rubber hose. The smart handle runs on batteries, and when they die the machine gives a quarter of its power, which drove one calm owner to smash it on the ground. One owner is on his third K5 in four years, and the app is pointless.

• The hose particularly, is awful on them. The extra length of the 10m hose is nice, but you've just gone from a short rubbish hose to a long rubbish hose. A proper commercial grade high pressure rubber hose is much, much, much better and can be had with Karcher fittings for about £40.

One owner running a fifteen-inch concrete cleaner found it fantastic and gave it nine out of ten, another ran it two hours without a problem, and a third gives it a solid eight. The ePX2300 is its smaller sibling.

An owner who ran his own tests measured about 2,300 PSI at one gallon a minute against the 3,000 claimed. Its backflow valve sprays water from the tap after you release the trigger, and the smaller model blew the seals out of a house tap on first use. It trips outlets, and one unit hardly worked on its second outing, past the return window.

• Just assembled this thing and gave it a go. No water leaks as seen in your vid. However, it did trip the GCI outlet a few times when I deactivated the spraying. Otherwise, it did a wonderful job cleaning the eves, siding, windows and concrete. I’d give it a solid 8 / 10 rating.

• I have this unit and like it for the most part. I just ran a bunch of PSI and GPM tests myself. ... the included 0, 15, and 25 deg nozzles ... produced ~2300 PSI at ~1.0 GPM. The included turbo nozzle produced ~1000 PSI at ~1.3 GPM.
