Every other cooler here gets measured against this one: the most owned, most reviewed and most copied rotomolded cooler on the market, with four to six days of ice in independent tests, the biggest owner community and the best resale value. One self-described YETI hater tried hard not to buy one and ended up taking a Tundra 45 on a 600-mile overland trip in ninety-degree heat, where it did exactly what he expected, and a four-year owner's has never failed.
It is the most expensive and the heaviest, expensive even on sale, and one owner sold his 45 for a wheeled model because it was killing his back. The thick walls eat capacity, so a rival's 35-quart is about as roomy inside as this 45. Owners keep saying a full YETI in a truck bed is a theft target.

I won a Yeti cooler at work. Great cooler, but with its thick walls we are able to fit a lot less in it as our old fashioned Coleman. These thick new generation coolers keep things cool for a long time, but for us and most people its just not necessary. for day trips and keeping things cool on our fishing trips a regular cooler is much lighter and more than enough.

I have the tundra 125 and heavy is an understatement. If I had a do over I would get 2 65’s one for drinks and one for food. The big one was intended to be left on a boat not dragged to the campground.

As a hater of the Yeti hype, I did everything I could to find an alternative.....until I did my research. I tried really hard NOT to get a Yeti, but I have to give credit where credit is due. The design/performance/price-point value got me to spend my hard-earned $$$ on a Yeti Tundra 45. We were looking for a cooler for a 600 mile overland trip with limited refueling stops while the cooler was in the back of a pick-up in temperatures in the +90s for up to 7 hours a day, with limited space. When compared to others of the same storage volume, the Yeti 45 had a smaller footprint. The trail was full-on 4x4 and there was a lot of bouncing, bumping, dust, & limited space. The Tundra did exactly what we expected. For bear proofing, I just bought a couple of Clevis pins from a hardware store for $2.50 ea. For those Yeti haters out there....get over yourselves...I had to.

I just got my first Tundra 45. Yeti messed up my order and i got 2!!!!!!!!! Im lovin the size and i bought a lil collapsible cart pull thing from Walmart so if im alone i can pull it when i need to move it when its full but i can remove the cart so it fits perfect in the back of my SUV or my my truck. The locking brackets are nice too so i don’t have to worry about someone stealin it from the bed of my truck. I got the Blue White OG throwback

All of your points are spot on, can't argue. As a yeti and coleman cooler owner though, I will say, since this video Yeti has gotten rid of alot of the problems you mentioned by coming out with the roadie wheeled models... game changer. I sold my Tundra 45 and got the roadie 48, the 45 was killing my back and I hesitated to use it more than my coleman...

He walked out to pump his gas and some dude was running off with his brand new yeti cooler. He was so upset because he actually wanted one and knew he couldn't afford one, then he got it and had it for less than 30 minutes and some guy stole it from him. He never got another yeti cooler because that one was stolen, he still has a nearly 20 year old piece of crap cooler that he has to keep topping up the ice, but nobody steals it.

I have both a Yeti and a Pelican. Both are great but the Pelican design is better in my opinion. The latches are Pelican are more user friendly and I find that it also holds ice slightly longer. The capacity rating Yeti uses is misleading. As you said, a 35 Pelican is actually larger than the Yeti 45.

Purchased a YETI 45 cooler last year. The size is perfect and it works for me. Like the old saying "to each is his or her own".
