Why it ranks here. The heated blanket everyone has owned, with dual controls for couples, a five-year warranty, and it is washer friendly. One owner's is probably twenty years old, another's is still trucking through Buffalo winters, and a used one bought four years ago is still going great.
Owners split. Half report it stopped getting hot after a few short years, a warranty repair that broke again shortly after, a controller stuck on one setting, and a new king with no heat at all; one owner's mother goes through one or two a year and suspects the new ones are made too cheaply. A professional tester found it only medium-warm with bulky wires and components not of the highest quality.

The Sunbeam here is very affordably priced, but they're looking at the components themselves. They're not of the highest quality so it might not be the best long-term investment.

Those Amazon knockoffs can be decent but can also be the worst. Try a name brand, like Sunbeam, https://www.sunbeam.com/warranty.html I've had two for as long as I can remember and they still work great

My Sunbeam heated blanked stopped getting hot after a few short years of use. It doesn't heat up anymore now. Definitely not BIFL. Seems like the LL Bean blanket might be though, considering it's almost double the price of the Sunbeam.

Mine broke after a year...🙁 send it back for repair with 5 year warranty, they repaired it and sent it back . Broke shortly after.

Worked great the first season. Now on the next season, seems to be stuck on no. 5 heat setting even though the dial works as it should. When new it would heat up to high in twenty minutes, now it takes 2 hours plus to get there. I would not recommend this item.

I've a sunbeam heated blanket that I got from a buy nothing group 4 years ago that's still going great. Takes some time to heat up but totally worth it given it is washer friendly and how long it has lasted.

My mom good through one or two a year, and I've personally had some that didn't last 5. Maybe it's one of those things where the older models last, but the new ones are made too cheaply to hold up over time.
