Why it ranks here. Every toothbrush thread ends up comparing something to the iO. It has the most feedback of any brush here, a pressure sensor, position tracking and a magnetic charger, and it is the one people upgrade to when their gums are in trouble. It ranks first for that pull, with the battery as the asterisk.
Owners who come from a manual or a cheap brush call the difference 'day and night'↗, and one calls the iO9 'crazy brilliant'↗. Then the battery. I just got the oral b series 9. I had a cheap Amazon electric toothbrush and their was no comparison. The oral b series 9 spins so much faster than my cheap Amazon electric toothbrush.

I used the tracking features for a few months but got bored and used only the internal timer. I highly recommend getting series 3 and saving your money!

My Genius X broken and Oral B gave me this one. Excellent toothbrush, but refill are more expensive than my older Genius X. I hope Oral-B decrease refills price from iOs models.

Am I the only one that is getting frustrated by not having the control to shut the toothbrush off by holding the power button for instance. With every movement the thing just turns on. Not very convenient when traveling which will drain your battery (I think) . Someone else finds this frustrating?

Don't let the battery drop to 0%. The first iO series had batteries that died before warranty expired, replaced 2 batteries under warranty, got a brand new one...

It gets worse... the iO series has a very small battery that lasts about 1/3 of the Genius series, about 4 days (2x daily use). The iO doesn't warn you of low battery like the Genius so on several occasions the brush was dead when i needed it. Rubbish.

In the end got io 7, because its faster charging than io 6 and was on sale... Coming from manual brush it's day and night in terms of cleaning teeth. Only minus is io series heads are more expensive than other oral b series brushing heads. Overall I am happy with my purchase. :)

I support this claim. I also have a Philips toothbrush and unfortunately I am riddled with gingivitis... I have recently upgraded to an oral-b iO series 9 to conquer my ongoing battle with gingivitis. Any additional info would be appreciated.

I followed the golden rule of charging for a year (20-80/90%) but the brush shit the bed still. battery or BMS issues after a year, probably there's a design flaw with the IO series.

Repairability sucks in Oral-B Pro. After checking iO battery replacement video, they made the battery replacement a trivial process. So now I'm considering getting iO Series 3 more than Sonicare 4100.

The OralB is the most recommended based on the study "6-Month Evaluation of the Oral-B iO Electric Toothbrush versus a Sonic Toothbrush for Plaque and Gingival Outcomes"... It turns out that these studies were all funded by Proctor & Gamble who own...OralB.
