Why it ranks here. The food processor r/BuyItForLife names first, with owners at 23, 30 and 45 years and parts still made for machines from the eighties, and the one America's Test Kitchen keeps rating first. A Robot Coupe owner calls it the best home unit and the easiest to clean, and the motor is quiet and low-pitched.
Newer units draw complaints that build has slipped: one owner had several things break immediately and cannot run it without holding the bowl down, and long-time owners call the new ones hit or miss. Bowls crack eventually. At fifteen inches tall and 18 pounds it is a lot of machine for one onion.

We've had ours for 30+ years. Had to replace the lid a few years ago, but they still make the parts.

Cuisinart DFP-14 is a beast. Best food processor I have used. Vitamix will last a lifetime. No idea what they cost nowadays. I've had mine over 20 years and it was pricey back then.

Robot Coupe for the food processor. But if you're buying for the home, a Robot Coupe is really overkill. Like hunting cockroaches with dynamite kind of overkill. Meanwhile, the Cuisinart DFP-14 will serve you well. I have owned others, including Kitchen Aid (and Robot Coupe). The Cuisinart is not only the best home unit, it's also the easiest to clean.

I shelled out for a Cuisinart a few years back, several things broke immediately and I can’t run it without holding the bowl down. Do not recommend any more.

I absolutely love what this food processor does! To top it all off I love the fact that the motor is quiet and Low pitched. A lot of food processors out there that I have seen have Motors that sound absolutely terrible! The Cuisinart 14 cup food processor is the bee's knees because it does not bother my ears one bit.

We just got this unit to replace a smaller one where the plastic bowl cracked and was leaking. Watching this is so much more helpful than the small print manual.

I'm 27 years with my cuisinart food processor. Pretty sure my vitamin is around 12 years now... Both relatively easy to clean

Cuisinart. Mines older than me. I'm 45. It does everything. Shreds cheese, does hummus, bread dough, makes smoothies. It's a beast.
