Why it ranks here. The Apple Watch is the watch every other is compared with, and the Series 11 is the thinnest and most comfortable yet, with the iPhone tie-in nobody matches. It ranks first for that. It still needs charging every night, its battery fades in a year or two, and its owners call its recovery metrics gimmicks.
'I never thought I'd ever get an iphone nor an Apple Watch'↗, says a switcher from Samsung: 'It's a beautiful design it feels very comfortable around my wrist'↗. An upgrader from a Series 9 finds the 46mm 'insanely thin'↗. A first-time buyer three months in says 'everything is perfect now'↗. One saw it 'on clearance today for $309'↗ at Walmart. The complaints are old ones: 'I don't get why Apple still can't make batteries that last as long as those of other leading brands'↗. The new heart-rate-variability readings are 'borderline useless'↗ as a body-battery metric, says one owner; another says they will not change 'how you train'↗. A Series 6 owner got a battery replacement that was 'aka a new device'↗. And one commenter's answer to all of it: 'AmazFit Active Max for $169 is the watch to get. 25 day battery life'↗.

Is The Apple Watch Series 11 WORTH The Upgrade? Full Review

I just got my series 11 a couple hours ago, I was upgrading from a series 9 and got the 46mm series 11. I’m loving it so far, I’m not sure if it’s because I have a case on my old watch but this one seems insanely thin too

I've had the first-generation Apple Watch SE for over four years now, and it’s been pretty reliable. It even lasts a full day on a charge, although I don’t do extremely long workouts. That said, I’m thinking about upgrading to the Series 11. With the SE, I don’t have features like the blood oxygen sensor or ECG, but to be honest, I haven’t really missed them over the past four years.

They’ve been gimmicking for years. HRV measurements as infrequent as the current series 11 takes are borderline useless and certainly not a valuable body battery metric.
-
the longer battery life is good. the extra HR and HRV readings sound good on paper but in reality its not going to make any difference to how you train. nothing beats listening to your body and how you feel

I‘ve got an S6 Stainless Steel and after the “battery replacement” (aka a new device) I got last yr, I don’t rly see myself upgrading for a while. The watch does everything I need it to do.

I don’t get why Apple still can’t make batteries that last as long as those of other leading brands.

Of course it is coming. In fact, after years of denial, Apple started talking about Apple Watch battery 3 years ago, and now every keynote gets, in one way or another, one or two Apple Watch battery improvements: last year it was “6 hours more” for the regular model, this year it was “up to 50 hours” on the Ultra. Those are minimal, mostly cosmetic improvements, but still.
