Why it ranks here. The reference soundbar on r/Soundbars: a bar, a wireless sub and two wireless rears with four real height channels, and owners three and four years in. A game developer finds it fantastic for games and superior to his AV receiver setups, one owner no longer reaches for a headset because a whisper in the film is a whisper in his ear, and another says it still shakes his house. The B, C, D and F sound nearly alike, so buy the cheapest.
Early units had rear-speaker disconnects; one owner cured his by giving the bar its own 2.4 GHz network, and a used eBay unit works wirelessly 85 percent of the time. One critic calls the line a rip-off because the subwoofer is weak, and says every firmware update breaks something else. One owner's cheaper Samsung bar died at 14 months.

I have a q990b and I found it excellent for gaming. Resident evil 4 remake is a good showcase of the surround.

Honestly, I think that Samsungs q990B, C, and D sound bars are one of the biggest rippoffs/con jobs ever played on consumers...What good is a bar when the subwoofer it's paired with sucks with a capital S? Then there's the firmware...every time they release an update, it breaks something else...

I have a Q990B and love it. Just be aware that the early models of Q990B had rear speaker disconnect issues.

I have the q990b and develop video games for a living...My experience with the Q990B is that it's fantastic for games and superior to my AVR setups.

i bought two samsung soundbars Q990B and the Q660B : the Q600B died after 1 year and 2 months. i'm just praying that the Q990B stays alive for 3 or 4 more years else Samsung never again.

The 990B is hands down the most impressive soundbar we've heard (so far) in 2022 --though admittedly, it's not a night and day improvement or different than the 950A from last year.

Got this soundbar the other day and I have to say ,it's amazing no issues with connection drops , just an amazing sound , got a nice price on it too. If you're thinking bout buying it ,,,don't ...just do it

I solved the disconnect issue with my surround/backspeakers. My Asus ET12 router uses a combined 2.4+5GHz network. Splitting them into two seperate networks (different names, too) and only connecting to the 2.4GHz with the soundbar removed all my issues. 🙂 Awesome soundbar!

Once setup up in my theatre room I played blade runner 2049 with Dolby Atmos 😳😳😳 wow wow wow mind-blowing great sound...PS5 games like The last of us 1-2, fifa 22 sound incredible.

I went with a used Samsung q990b off eBay. It is Samsungs top of the line model but a few years old. It has some connection issues but works 85 percent of the time wirelessly with Samsung tv. It is a huge upgrade and night and day difference.
