Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro
Ab Carver Pro (spring-assisted) vs. the cheaper Ab Carver Sport (same handles, no spring)

- Best for
- Anyone who wants the most reviewed wheel there is and does not mind a spring assist
- Assist Mechanism
- Single wheel, spring-loaded auto-return
Why it ranks here. By far the most discussed ab wheel online, sold at Walmart, Amazon and Costco for about $30, and reviewed on YouTube every year for a decade. That gives it the deepest pool of owner comments in the category, praise and complaints alike.
The workout is not in doubt. First-timers wake up 'really sore, Both my arms and abs'↗, one could not 'find the strength to do one full crunch'↗ two days later, and a beer-belly owner found his belt 'on some notches I haven't used in years'↗. One owner has 'Been using this for a yr worth every penny'↗. The argument is the spring that pulls the wheel back. Fans say it protects beginners; critics say over time 'it stops way before ending the movement and screws the whole workout'↗, that it 'doesn't retract fully'↗, or that the noise on the return is unbearable. Some units fail: one locked up after a week, another started 'sounding noisy'↗ at a month. The knee pads are 'the cheapest and most useless pieces of garbage'↗. It turns up second-hand everywhere, from $3 at Goodwill to $32 on eBay, and one long-time roller user warns that a spring-assisted wheel can slip suddenly under your weight.
What owners like
What owners complain about
- The spring assist is the argument: for some it 'stops way before ending the movement and screws the whole workout'↗
- Noise on the return that one owner could not stand, and units that locked up after a week or went noisy after a month
- The knee pads are 'the cheapest and most useless pieces of garbage'↗, and slide around
“Just got mine and I did't check any reviews. 4/5 for me. It would be a solid 5 if not for that "safety measure" which it's frustrating, actually. It doesn't matter if you start as close to your knees as possible over time it stops way before ending the movement and screws the whole workout.” — YouTube comment · WalterMangandid

Great video but this thing sucks it should never stop like that waste of $$ I returned it great video though I thought mine was broken because it kept stopping

After 1 month, suddenly the ab carver is sounding noisy...Feels like something is breaking inside. Is it a defective product?

This will strengthen your wrists, but will make your arm muscles sore as hell as well as your wrists. It doesn't have much effect on your core at first, but it will affect the parts of your body I just mentioned especially if you're a beginner to this like I am.
-
Just bought it and did 3x more reps than the recommended 1st day workout because I wasn't feeling any burn or muscle tiredness. Now as I type this it's morning and I woke up really sore, Both my arms and abs.

Bought this thing over a year ago and used it once and let it sick under the cocktail table. Kind of got tired of my pork, beer belly so picked them up and have been using them for a short week or two, Haven't lost a pound, but it had tightened me up where my belt is now on some notches I haven't used in years. It works!

Been using this for a yr worth every penny !!

Thanks for the instructions, unfortunately I got a lil too excited the first day this product arrived. I did around 20 rolls properly and my abs are still hurting from day one. It's been two days & I can't find the strength to do one full crunch. Need only a few days to recover and i'll be back using it again

I bought perfect ab carver recently, but every time I use it I get pain in my lower back. Is this normal or I'm doing it wrong ?

Just received my Perfect Fitness AB Carver Pro. Purchased on eBay $31.99 + Tax, free shipping. Perfect Fitness AB listings ranged on eBay from about $31.99 to $399.00.

I got mine at Walmart for 29... better than the 7 dollar ab wheel.
-
I own it and it's not a bad product but the knee pads are the cheapest and most useless pieces of garbage I've ever seen. They slide a lot and give barely any support or cushion.
-
I cannot stand the noise this makes when you roll back. Return
-
scam... when you use this it doesn't retract fully with each rep.. I am so embarrassed I bought this POS. Going right back to Costco.
-
This is very good device,it is not easy, but getting in shape is not supposed to be easy. Do this exercise on a hard floor surface. No carpet or rug. You will feel the burn all the way down your abs. I can only do about 10 fully extended right now. This is a solid machine.

I have the Ab Carver Sport — the free rolling one but with the same handles...the one without the ridiculous spring. Much better, imo. And cheaper.

While I am a fan of ab rollers (been using them forever), I would warn against using this particular ab roller primarlily for the reason of a potential sudden slippage... Since the Perfect Ab Carver carries your weight, if it slips for any reason, you might not catch yourself in time or are too weak to do so you find yourself in a face plant or worse breaking the fall with your elbows.
