Why it ranks here. The Theragun is the gun everyone names first, with the deepest bench of multi-year owners and endorsements from massage therapists. It ranks first for the triangular handle that reaches your own back, and for owners whose pain went away. It costs $200 to $600, and some models refuse to run without the app.
'It works so great I don't even use it anymore'↗, says a runner whose Achilles pain 'was gone'↗ after a week; it 'gets used like once a month'↗. A licensed massage therapist calls it 'the closest to professional results a client can get at home'↗. Another owner uses it 'for at least 1 minute'↗ per muscle after every run, and 'my legs feel light and ready to go the next day'↗. The handle is 'much more ergonomic when hitting my hamstrings and glutes'↗. The app 'used to be really bad, but they've updated it and its extremely helpful now'↗. Then the price: 'You're paying hella money for the brand. Look for other brands'↗. And the app lock: one owner's gun 'only works when connected with the app'↗, an update broke the connection, and after five weeks of emails he has 'a $300 paperweight'↗. It is loud and harsh on the neck, and the Pro 'is bulky to travel with'↗.

“It works so great I don’t even use it anymore. I used to have Achilles pain from running, I ran every other day. Got the extremely expensive theragun and after a week or so, the pain was gone. Now it’s for back pain because of scoliosis and sedentary office work but legs and feet are pain free for anything under half marathon distance. Maybe it was too effective.😕 it gets used like once a month” — Reddit comment · u/Dothemath2 · r/running · 2021-03-31

I love the theragun specifically, and mostly for traps and rhomboids although I can do neck and glutes. Got one before becoming an LMT for my then partners sciatic and it was a miracle game changer for us. I use mine on my pecs, glutes, quads and feet regularly. I only use them for >10 min in a 90 min session but I think they’re the closest to professional results a client can get at home and try to show them how to use it safely.

Generally i have two uses for thera-guns. Use it without ANY weight or force. Literally just letting the device have its own weight as the max force... That thing will, and I mean WILL, bust up scar tissue faster and more efficiently than someone can with their hands doing manual. However, it will always bruise.

I love it, I often get knots in my muscles that cause a lot of other issues. Often, my physical therapists helps with massaging these but the Theragun is a great surrogate when I cannot go there. It does not really do much for DOMS, but is a great way to loosen thight muscles and knots, and is also a very easy and nice way to warm up the muscles a bit before working out.

It works really well, but the price tag makes it not worth it. You're paying hella money for the brand. Look for other brands.

I loved my theragun, but it only works when connected with the app. After the most recent app update, the device won’t connect with the app — meaning I can’t use it at all. I’ve emailed Therabody repeatedly... It’s been more than FIVE WEEKS and they still can’t seem to come out with an app update... Basically, it means I have a $300 paperweight, and no one who seems to care about fixing the problem.

I found the triangular handle of the Theragun to be much more ergonomic when hitting my hamstrings and glutes, which are my primary issue.

I just returned my theragun pro £550... I used the lowest setting on my upper back muscles, and I felt how much it shakes up my brain… The brain and heart are so delicate, I dont think there is enough research to prove it does/doesn’t do damage to our bodies.

Its a must-have IMO. My routine, once I get into the door, is to have a protein shake, do my normal post-run stretches and then hit every muscle group for at least 1 minute with the theragun. Even after the longest runs, my legs feel light and ready to go the next day.

I really like it. Depends on what you mean by "work." I helps with stiffness and general soreness. I wouldn't expect it to help me recover from an injury faster though. The app used to be really bad, but they've updated it and its extremely helpful now.

The Mini is great for convenience, easy to carry when traveling. It says it has the same speeds but it doesn't feel like it has as much oomph as the full one. With the full one you can just hold it next to whatever body part you are working on, while with the Mini it feels better to actually push it against your body.

I was on the fence on the mini versus the Prime. Since I am new to using these I wanted to be sure. The mini is amazing and really gives me a deep tissue massage on my quads. I can see stepping up to a higher model in the future.

Love mine, does the job. Battery's is good enough. My favourite part if training is getting horrible leg doms, then using this gun on them. Feels painful, yet Amazing. Love it

I have the Pro but it is bulky to travel with.

I do really love the Theragun Pro that I have. Got it on a Black Friday deal last year when it was $200 off. Absolutely LOVE IT!! Had Hypervolt Pro2 and it just wasn’t as nice as the Theragun Pro.

I have the theragun pro and absolute love it yes the noise and kick can be a problem in the neck area but thats the only thing to say everything else is absolutely loveable

UPDATE: After doing more research and reading through the comments here, I decided to go with Therabody Theragun PRO Plus. It seemed like the most reliable option for supplementing manual work safely while targeting muscles effectively.
